Join us for a Meet the Crew drop‑in open morning at your local fire station. This relaxed, informative event gives you the chance to speak directly with firefighters, explore the station, and get a real insight into what life is like on the watch.
You’ll meet serving wholetime firefighters, our recruitment team, and fitness advisors who can answer your questions about the role, the training, the shift pattern, and what to expect if you decide to apply. With wholetime recruitment opening in August 2026, this is a great opportunity to address any uncertainties, clarify the process, and feel confident about your next steps.
During your visit, you can:
- Speak with firefighters about their experiences
- Explore the station and see how crews work day‑to‑day
- Handle firefighting equipment and learn what it’s used for
- Watch demonstrations from the crew
- Chat with recruitment advisors about the application process
- Meet fitness specialists who can advise you on preparing for the role
This is your opportunity to understand what the job is really like: the teamwork, the challenges, the routine, and the life‑saving impact firefighters have in their communities.
You’re welcome to bring friends or family to support you. We kindly ask that small children and pets are not brought to the event.

- This is a drop‑in event; you can arrive at any time during the session.
- Wear comfortable clothing suitable for light activity and moving around the station.
- This is an operational fire station, where crews are working. They may be called away during the session.
- Photography may take place during the event. If you prefer not to be included, please speak to a member of staff.
- Limited parking is available at the station. Please consider public tranpsort, car-share and drop-off.
- If you can no longer attend, please return your ticket so someone else can take your place.
