Whole Human Self Care: Real Self Care for Real People (BIPOC centered)
About this Event
Are you in the shame spiral of self care? You don’t feel good, but you should “do self care” to prevent burnout. You lack time and feel too depleted or overwhelmed to figure out what you actually need to feel better. So you fall back to doing what you know and working more… Which causes you to not feel good, and so the cycle continues.
How do you break that pattern and learn accessible self care without the shame and overwhelm?
We'll explore a layered model of your self care, because what's depleting you probably isn't just physical. Self Care can look differently than what the wellness industry presents.
In this interactive session, you’ll
- Discover why your self care approach isn’t working right now & how you can fix it
- Experience connection with others and reprieve from the shame cycle
- Choose your next self care experiment and leave with a clear & doable self care shift
DATE: September 23, 2026
TIME: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
LOCATION: The BIPOPC Alliance, 140 W Oak St, Fort Collins, CO
NOTE: This program centers the experiences, perspectives, and leadership of Black, Indigenous, and people of color while welcoming participants of all backgrounds who are committed to exploring self care with curiosity and compassion.
ABOUT YOUR TEACHERS
Jessica Lucey (she/her) of Sun Breath Yoga helps people in their midlife and senior years feel good in their bodies and enjoy long term health. Her warm and lighthearted approach makes self care go from rigid and overwhelming to fluid and attainable. Fun, functional, and accessible yoga; combined with the ability to choose what’s best for you and permission to be yourself have been a central theme of her teaching since graduating from teacher training in 2017. She currently hosts offerings in Fort Collins, Loveland, and online. When Jessica is not teaching, she’s experiencing the world through outdoor adventures, music, and good food.
Kris Monkou (he/they) is a capacity and performance coach who helps folks avoid burnout and find sustainable success. His work is built around a framework that places capacity at it’s core for burnout prevention. He believes that burnout thrives when there's no real recovery built into the way that you work. Kris has a warm, humorous, but direct style that makes people feel genuinely seen without letting them off the hook. He draws from nervous system science, real-world & Universal patterns, and lived experience with his work. When Kris isn't in sessions or in workshops, you'll find him on his bike!
THIS IS FOR YOU IF…
- You know self care would help, but you’re too overwhelmed with life or the state of the world (or both) to actually book the massage.
- You’re close to exhausted, can’t stop, but you know something needs to change.
- You’ve tried self care: the routines, the apps, the morning habits. But it felt too prescriptive. Or worse… it didn’t work.
