A Daylong Forest Retreat With Special Guest Arassari Pataxó From Brazil
About this Event

This Daylong Forest Retreat is guided by the ancestral wisdom of the Pataxó people, who understand that individual well-being is inseparable from collective care and from the living relationship with Mother Nature. It invites participants to reflect on how our emotions, actions, and presence influence one another, shaping environments of harmony, balance, or tension. Rooted in the concept of well living, the retreat emphasizes interdependence, mutual responsibility, and conscious presence. Through sacred chants, forest sounds, herbal smoke cleansing, and embodied practices drawn from Pataxó traditions, participants are invited to strengthen their physical, mental, and emotional well-being while cultivating active care for others and for the Earth.

Rather than viewing care as a sacrifice, the retreat presents it as a reciprocal exchange. Loving others, honoring nature, and establishing healthy boundaries become pathways to personal balance, resilience, and collective harmony. Participants are also encouraged to allow themselves to receive care, recognizing this as an essential act of self worth and belonging within the greater web of life. This retreat offers a space for reconnection with ancestral knowledge, with the natural world, and with the deeper values that sustain both individual and collective well-being. Arassari’s visit was strategically planned for April, close to Earth Day. As Arassari emphasizes, every day should be Earth Day. However, this occasion serves as a crucial reminder for us to pause, reflect, and deepen our commitment to sustainable practices. It is an opportunity to enhance our awareness and knowledge, ensuring that we adopt the best environmental practices in our daily lives

He champions Indigenous rights and environmental awareness through his educational project, Indigenous Day is Every Day, which emphasizes the sustainable relationship Indigenous people have with the land. A graduate in Law from Estácio de Sá University in Rio de Janeiro, Arassari continues to advocate for Indigenous rights, blending education and advocacy. Arassari is renowned for his ability to captivate audiences of all ages with his eloquence, deep knowledge, and passion. As an educator and advocate, he is dedicated to sharing the history, culture, and ancestral wisdom of his people. His global conferences inspire communities worldwide to embrace cultural diversity and take an active role in environmental preservation. Over the past three years, Arassari has been invited to visit and speak in Miami, creating spaces for dialogue, learning, and deep listening. In 2025 alone, these engagements reached more than 3,000 people across schools, universities, and the broader community.

What is an Arassari?

An arassari is known as a forest keeper, a guardian of the natural world. Arassaris represent the responsibility of protecting the forest through care, wisdom, and a deep spiritual connection to the land.

In this retreat, the Arassari is also a leader of his tribe, carrying forward ancestral traditions and guiding others in living in harmony with Mother Nature.

How can you help this Brazilian forest keeper?

You can help by supporting his mission to protect and regenerate the Amazon rainforest.

One of his major projects is to plant 200,000 trees to restore damaged forest land in Brazil.

He does not accept donations or personal payments. Instead, he exchanges handcrafted items connected to Pataxó culture.

As part of this commitment, Patch of Heaven Sanctuary will directly make a purchase to support the planting of trees, helping regenerate the Brazilian forest and strengthen Indigenous-led environmental stewardship.

Every contribution is an act of care for the Earth and future generations.

How can you be part of it?

Come spend the day with him.
By joining this Daylong Forest Retreat, you are not only learning from Indigenous wisdom, but also supporting real reforestation efforts and community-led healing.

The day will include cultural connection, nature-based practices, and shared experiences of care.
