Our Womb House Books March book club read is Assata Shakur's powerful autobiography, ASSATA, published in 1987 by Lawrence Hill & Co. As Assata was living in Cuba as a fugitive from the U.S., ASSATA is her testimony on the crime she was convicted of and more. This edition, published in 2001, features a foreword by Angela Davis.

In the face of the violent, decaying system we still struggle against, Assata's story of resilence and resistance is deeply inspiring.
