The conference will explore the concept of personhood and ask whether new biological or AI entities can be considered as persons.
About this Event

Questions :

What is a person? Where did the concept of personhood come from? Can a human embryo be considered as a person? An AI entity? Or a human-nonhuman combination?

This in-person event organised by the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics will be held at the Mercure Glasgow City Hotel.

A number of experts will delve into the origins of personhood and explore whether new biological and AI entities can be considered as persons.

Speakers:

Dr. Calum MacKellar:

Is the Director of Research of the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics and a Visiting Lecturer in Bioethics at St Mary’s University in London. He is also a Fellow of the Centre for Bioethics and Human Dignity at LeTourneau University in Texas, USA.

Prof.Dr. David A. Jones:

Is a Professor of Bioethics at St Mary's University in London, a Research Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, and a Clinical Professor at the Plunkett Centre for Ethics at the Australian Catholic University.
