About this Event

Description:

The way we see death determines our relationship with life. Coming from Mexico, the 3 of us grew up with a heavy connection to Día de los Muertos, a Mexican tradition that connects us with death - celebrated on November 2nd. We want the attendees to experience a new perspective on our own death: instead of running away from it (much like the hegemonic occidental ideology has taught us), our proposal is to look at it clearly, remove its colonial and capitalistic veil, and connect with it from a place of beauty and awe.

In this workshop you will make your own stone (small version) with clay, using tools and materials that we’ll provide. While we use our hands to create, we’ll have a safe space to share our ideas and feelings around death and life. We’ll start the conversation sharing how the Mesoamerican cultures understand death, how it’s integrated into their vision of the cosmos, and how they narrate the crossover. You will also have paper to write any thought or idea that you want to catch.

We also offer the option to burn your clay stone, which makes the piece more durable. In case you opt in, please bring 5€ cash and be aware that the process takes some time, so you’ll be getting your piece around 2 weeks after the workshop.
