About this Event
This level 1 class looks to introduce the technical aspects of lost wax carving, and is a great introduction to those looking to start or widen their jewellery making knowledge.
This class allows you to experiment in the sculptural element of jewellery making and will introduce you to a completely alternate jewellery making technique to traditional silversmithing.
An ancient art in itself, lox wax casting was originally established as a metal working technique in the bronze age and has developed through millennia to this very specific manufacturing process.
In this level 1 class you will be introduced to the different nature of jewellers’ wax, and the nature of the material and how to manipulate it, where you will have the opportunity to experiment in sculpting and building in this very different medium. In this class you can create a ring or pendant, or a test/sample piece which will then be cast in silver or a bronze alloy and returned to you as a finished piece.
With lots of inspiration to guide you, this short course is perfect for the jewellers looking to express their ideas in alternative ways, or for those beginning their jewellery journey to widen their understanding of general jewellery making.
Only eight places available.
