Waverley Care Business Network: The AIDS Memorial Quilt
About this Event
Hosted by Waverley Care in collaboration with Deloitte, this special event will bring together professionals and businesses from across Scotland for an opportunity to connect, learn and reflect.
Enjoy refreshments and networking, hear more about Waverley Care’s work supporting people affected by HIV and hepatitis C, and listen to members of our peer network share their experiences. You’ll also receive a guided tour of the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt and the Milestone House Quilt.
The UK AIDS Memorial Quilt consists of 42 quilts and 23 individual panels, commemorating more than 384 people affected by HIV and AIDS. Part of the world’s largest community art project, the Quilt began in the USA in 1985 through the work of activist Cleve Jones. Created in memory of friends, family members and loved ones lost to AIDS, the individual panels were stitched together and displayed publicly to challenge stigma, raise awareness and ensure that those lost were remembered.
This is a chance to make new connections, learn more about Waverley Care’s work and experience an important piece of HIV history during its first display in Scotland.
