Watershed Education and Bio-Fertilization Workshop

June 20th, 10:30-11:30 AM, Lake Park

HumiliTree's Owner & Lead Designer, Tanner Petrilla, will lead a hands-on participatory workshop, introducing the science and practice of homemade biological fertilizers — and demonstrate direct application to trees at Lake Park. This workshop is designed to be accessible to community members and land managers alike, rooted in peer-reviewed science without the jargon. Daniel Moss, from the City of Reno, will discuss the Stormwater Committee's efforts to improve the Truckee Meadow's overall watershed health, future watershed restoration projects, and how citizens can prevent stormwater pollution within their neighborhoods.

To enjoy the workshop comfortably - bring your favorite camping chair or picnic blanket.

Optional: Before the workshop, join One Truckee River and Friends of Lake Park in cleaning up and beautifying Lake Park. Click here to sign up to volunteer from 8:30-10:30 AM.

HumiliTree designs and cultivates living landscapes that regenerate the Earth, nourish communities, and seek to share abundance equitably. Guided by the core principles of permaculture—Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share—they create resilient outdoor spaces that restore ecosystems, support well-being, and foster a more just and sustainable future for all.

Founder, Tanner Petrilla, is a Licensed Landscape Contractor with a Professional Certificate in Permaculture Design from Oregon State University. He brings over a decade of farming and landscaping experience to every project. As a Reno local for more than 20 years, Tanner has dedicated himself to understanding the unique challenges and opportunities of high desert landscaping, blending time-tested permaculture principles with the resilience this terrain demands. He is supported by his wife, Ali, whose passion for customer experience ensures every client feels heard and valued, and by their newborn son, Auggie, who reminds them daily why nurturing the Earth for future generations matters so deeply.

Daniel Moss is a Civil Engineer at the City of Reno, focused on environmental restoration, stormwater management, and flood prevention. He works closely with KTMB on various volunteer-led restoration projects throughout the city and also provides watershed education seminars to both children and adults. Over his career has worked in hydrological engineering in Southwest Arizona, Northern California, and Nevada.
