Warden Cheryl Steberger | Attollo Professional Development Series
About this Event
Join us at Attollo HQ for a Professional Development Series session with Cheryl Steberger, Warden of Lancaster County Pr*son.
A lifelong Lancaster County resident and J.P. McCaskey graduate, Cheryl began her career as a Correctional Officer in 1995 after earning her degree in Psychology from Millersville University. She rose steadily through the ranks — Sergeant, Lieutenant, Major — before being appointed Warden in March 2016 by a unanimous 7-0 vote of the Pr*son Board, becoming the first woman ever to hold the position in Lancaster County history.
In that role, Warden Steberger has focused on building a culture of transparency, trust, and genuine care — for her staff, for the people in her facility, and for the community those individuals will return to. She has championed reentry programs, worked to reduce stigma around addiction and incarceration, and modeled what it means to lead with the Golden Rule at the center of everything.
In this session, she will share what it took to rise to leadership in a demanding field, how she leads with both firmness and compassion, and what young people can learn from a career built on showing up every day for the people around you.
