VORHEX ANGEL + LUKE SCHNEIDER, Sunday, July 19th, Doors 7pm, Opening performance by Marie Carroll, an experimental improviser and koto player based in NYC
Nashville-based ambient pedal-steel artist Luke Schneider's New Age soundscapes luxuriate in the expansive tones and otherworldly sustain of his vintage 1967 Emmons pedal steel guitar. VORHEX ANGEL evoke a visceral and dreamy blend of Japanese noise-rock and sprawling, ritualistic psychedelia.
Luke Schneider is a Nashville-based ambient pedal-steel artist known for transforming the instrument’s traditional role into expansive, meditative soundscapes. His solo work blends drone, new age, and experimental textures performed entirely on his vintage 1967 Emmons pedal steel. He has released music with Third Man Records, Leaving Records, and Northern Spy, and has collaborated with artists including Orville Peck, William Tyler, Carlos Niño and Nate Mercereau, Lambchop, Margo Price, Futurebirds, SG Goodman, and Peter One.
“Ambient and New Age music that luxuriates in his instrument’s edgeless tones and otherworldly sustain” — The New York Times
Vorhex Angel is an experimental noise-psych project featuring Jake and Jamin Orrall (formerly of JEFF The Brotherhood) and Kunal Prakash (Silver Synthetic), has earned rave reviews for their unhinged improvisation and soaring, guitar-heavy jams. Critics describe their sound as a visceral blend of Japanese noise-rock and sprawling psychedelia...
From Raven Sings The Blues review of their debut album "Heavenly", the debut studio album by VorhexAngel:
If ever there were heirs to the maelstrom of High Rise, Vorhex Angel would be at the top of the list. The band brings together members of JEFF The Brotherhood and Silver Synthetic into an exhaust cloud of motor oil and mayhem. The group released a few live glimmers over the past year, but the end of 2025 brought out their debut proper. Heavenly drinks from the font of fuzz and freakout. The record hurtles the listener though layers of the Earth’s crust, a sonic drill that drags the soul into layer upon layer of debris. With the same motorcycle fusion that fed Mainliner, Les Rallizes Dénudés, and pre-High Rise rippers Psychedelic Speed Freaks, the record lands like a delightful assault on the senses."
