Voices of the Resistance: Stories that Shaped LiberationOn April 26th join us to commemoratethe Italian Liberation Day on its 80th Anniversary. The event will reflect on how fascism impacted the lives of ordinary people and how they resisted it through:

- Poetry & Literature
- Lived Experiences
- Music
- Engaging discussions
This event is an opportunity to listen, learn, and engage with the voices of resistance from Italy’s past and beyond. We invite you to be part of this meaningful gathering as we celebrate resilience, courage, and the spirit of liberation.
The event is organised by Partito Democratico - Manchester Branch operating in the North of England in collaboration with ANPI, INCA CGIL, Patronato ACLI, NIDL and IBMT and with the presence of the Open Voice Community Choir.
Food and refreshments will be available to continue the conversation in a relaxed setting.

- Welcome & Introduction - Overview of the event and its themes.
- Stories from the Resistance - A talk featuring personal stories of those who lived through fascism.
- Poetry Reading & Reflection - A reading and reflection on a poem by Natalia Ginzburg, presented in both Italian and English.
- Video Testimonies - In collaboration with ANPI (Italian National Partisans Association).
- International Voices - A discussion on the Clarion Club cycling club and their involvement in the Spanish Resistance (International Brigades Memorial Trust).
- The Defiant: Footballers Against Fascism in Italy, 1922-45 - A presentation on the role of footballers in the anti-fascist movement.
- Resistance, Vote and Rights - An informative talk about the Italian Referendum and what Resistance means nowadays (NIDL CGIL).
- Music and Memory - A musical segment to commemorate the resistance by the Open Choir Community Choir.
- Closing Remarks & Q&A - Open discussion with the audience.
