Carmel Smickersgill is a composer and performer based in Manchester. She released her first EP with PRAH recordings after being mentored by Anna Meredith. After this she supported Anna on several tour dates as well as performing on Elizabeth Alker’s Northern Drift. This year, she is back with new music, a new live set up and new releases in the works. She's Ivor Novello nominated artist who hops through genres with a certain sense of humour and lightness whilst also creating space for darker beats. The last time any of Carmel’s music was performed in Manchester the concert was mentioned in the Guardian’s top ten concerts of 2024. Don’t let that fool you however into thinking her live show will be a calm and soothing time. Expect heavy percussion, ear worm tunes and a whole lot of honesty to come out with the help of a brand new band line up.
