About this Event
We love a great voice here at The Eagle Inn, and these are three of the best. It’s the return of the wonderful Adam Holmes.. Adam will be playing material from his latest album, Survivor and from across his career.
Adam will be supported by J P Worsfold and Manchester's Mr Novembre.
Adam Holmes cut his teeth in the world of folk music.
Taking a space at the end of the bar in legendary folk pub Sandy Bells at eight years old to soak up the music.
Age 15, The death of a close friend and a cascade into addiction.
Leaving school and moving out the family home age 16 he worked construction by day and battle rapped by night.
He found his way out through the focus of rapping until a singer booked didn't show, Adam stepped up and discovered his singing voice.
On the very same day he was finally offered a Carpentry apprenticeship aged 19 he received a phone-call offering him a place in the semi finals of the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2009.
He hasn't looked back since.
Adam Holmes lyrics resonate like ancient folk songs. His melodies familiar and uplifting. Its not unusual to feel tears during his live shows which have the feel of a boozy church service.
James Bond meets Robert Burns. Classy and timeless.
J P Worsfold is a writer of emotional contemplative contemporary folk songs that speak of connection, joy and belonging.
With a subtle blend of rich vocal harmony, sweeping string arrangements alongside heartfelt piano and guitar.
They are songs to evoke life’s deeper meaning and to inspire connection within ourselves and the natural space around us.
You will find yourself captivated by spellbinding songs and performances that leave audiences feeling genuinely moved by a truly magical event.
MR NOVEMBRE, hailing from the depths of the desert sands of Dubai, by way of France, Ireland, and many identity crises, Mr. Novembre is now a Manchester-based singer-songwriter in the mould of modern troubadours like Glen Hansard, The Tallest Man on Earth, and Laura Marling.
Intricate fingerpicking patterns and sweeping open tunings coupled with a poetic turn of phrase, and a humbling incredulity, make for a passionate performer who lives every second on stage. Writing wistful songs about love, travel, idleness, perseveration, failure, and hope, Mr. Novembre blends a folky bedrock with a more intricate and lush indie sound palette, teetering between folk and rock.Inspired by many countries both lived in and travelled through, Mr. Novembre writes in English, French, and Spanish, about characters encountered, friends made, and cities discovered all over the globe. And the lovely Mancunian northerners have beguiled him so far as he builds up a fanbase playing open mics throughout the city and its suburbs.
Doors will open at 19:00 with the first act taking to the stage at 19:30. There is no reserved seating.
