VITA Volunteer Training

This specialized VITA training session will provide an in-depth review of new federal and state tax law changes for the upcoming filing season. Volunteers will gain clarity on updates impacting common returns, credits, and deductions to ensure accuracy and compliance across all sites.

The training will also include a focused overview of Pennsylvania state tax law for volunteers preparing returns for clients who work or reside across state lines. Additional modules will cover Quality Review (QR) procedures, emphasizing accuracy, documentation, and best practices to strengthen the client experience and maintain IRS compliance standards.

Finally, the session will address special topics relevant to the season—such as new filing requirements, Earned Income Credit updates, and other frequently encountered tax scenarios—to prepare volunteers for a wide range of situations.

This training is manditory for all preparers and quality reviewers who will be working directly with client returns.
