About this Event
In this workshop our tutors will guide you through the process of repairing and embellishing holes in textiles using a mini weaving loom.
Karen and Helen will share with you the fundamentals of using a mini weaving loom including discussing the types of needles, yarn/thread to use for best results. Inspired by the original 1950s speed loom, these handcrafted tools are designed to simplify the process of darning and repairing small snags in fabric.
Once you’ve practised the basics on a test piece you can have fun experimenting with colours and patterns.
This relaxed pace, small group workshop is suitable for beginners.
We will provide:
- all darning materials and tools, including mini weaving looms
- full instructions and guidance on the methods used
- hot drinks and biscuits
What to bring
- a sock, a jumper, or something with a small hole to repair and practice on
- a mini weaving loom if you have one already (we have plenty to share)
- yarn or embroidery thread if you have some (we have plenty to share)
- £15 cash, if you would like to take a darning kit (mini weaving loom and needle) home with you.
