Lyth Classical Guitar Day with Sam Rodwell at Crosthwaite Memorial Hall

Lyth Guitar Society are holding a Classical Guitar Day with the talented guitarist Sam Rodwell at Crosthwaite Village Hall, Crosthwaite, Nr Kendal, Cumbria LA8 8HR.

Sam Rodwell is an award winning international classical guitarist who has performed at prestigious venues across the United Kingdom including St Martins in the Field and the Bridgewater Hall. Sam studied with Craig Ogden at the Royal Northern College of Music gaining the highest honours and winning the coveted RNCM Salon Prize. He has been appointed an Associate Guitar Teacher there alongside Craig Ogden.

Sam has showcased his skills at many International Festilvals and in 2016 made his television debut on Sky Arts 'Guitar Star' competition in which he advanced to the final eight and appeared in 6 out of 9 episodes.

During the day Sam will teach an Ensemble Workshop open to classical guitarists of all abilities, hold a public masterclass and perform an evening concert.

Sam has a passion for teaching and for chamber music which has led to him coming here today to teach this workshop and masterclass. The evening concert will be the 'icing on the cake'!

Tickets are available separately or combined for the workshop and the concert. Entry to the masterclass is free with any of these tickets. For those applying up to a week before the concert there will be the option of ordering a buffet meal to be served in between the masterclass and the concert.

The 3 hour workshop will concentrate on one or two pieces written/arranged for guitar ensemble and there may be a chance to perform these pieces prior to Sam's concert.

For the masterclass, 4 lucky people will be be able to perform a chosen piece in public and Sam will offer some insightful and constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.

The evening concert will feature works by Astor Piazzolla, Johan Kasper Mertz and more.

Info: From 1pm until 4pm Sam will be holding a workshop in which the students will work on a piece for guitar ensemble. Later on in the evening we will perform the piece as a warm up to Sam's Concert

Info: Following on from the workshop Sam will be holding a masterclass for 4 aspiring guitarists (or guitar ensembles) in which the student(s) will concentrate on a specific piece of their choosing.
