About this Event
Virgin Falls Backpacking Weekend
Base Camp: Cable Crossing
Join us for an exceptional weekend of backpacking, community, and connection in one of Tennessee’s most beautiful natural settings. This trip centers around a shared base camp at Cable Crossing, the first campground on the main trail to Virgin Falls, located approximately 1.4 miles from the trailhead. We have reserved the entire camping area, giving us plenty of space to spread out, settle in, and move at an unhurried pace.
Our schedule is intentionally loose. This weekend is about communing with nature, slowing down, and enjoying the outdoors alongside others in recovery. Expect spacious time for rest, conversation, solitude, and exploration.
Camp Setup & Community
- A shared common kitchen area will be available with a griddle, water filter, paper products, and extra lighting.
- Campers are responsible for bringing all personal gear and food needed to be comfortable for the weekend.
- Evenings will include fireside recovery meetings and informal connection under the stars.
Exploring the Area
- Virgin Falls hike (Saturday): For those joining the main hike, we will depart camp around 10:30 am. Day hikers are welcome to join us just for this portion.
- A clear, cold creek runs right beside camp, offering refreshing cold plunge opportunities.
- A short hike from camp leads to Martha’s Pretty Point, a scenic bluff perfect for quiet reflection and incredible views.
Important Notes
- There are no permanent bathroom facilities at camp. Please plan accordingly and follow Leave No Trace principles.
- This is a backpacking-based weekend. Be prepared to carry your own gear in and out.
Packing List (Required)
Please bring everything you need for a comfortable weekend, including:
- Tent or shelter system
