Set in the heart of Phnom Penh, VANISHED (2009, 98 mins) tells a nerve-wracking story of Maly, an attractive radio presenter, who is terrified for her life after two of her close friends disappear. Maly knows she could also vanish at any time – and likely murdered - but she doesn’t know who by or why! VANISHED generated critical acclaim in Hollywood's Variety - the first-ever Variety review of a Cambodian film. It encompasses three broad themes: ‘Trust’, ‘Youthful Initiative’ and, particularly, ‘Female Independence’.
The second of KMF’s season of movies at META HOUSE (every third Thursday of the month) features Cambodia’s ever-popular and brilliant star Saray Sakana, then only 18 years old, in the lead role.
