About this Event
Welcome to the Post-Secondary Experience!
Northwest Suburban Integration School District #6078 (NWSISD) is comprised of seven independent school districts which include Anoka-Hennepin Schools, Brooklyn Center Community Schools, Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose Schools, ISD 728, Fridley Public Schools, Osseo Area Schools and Rockford Area Schools.
As a collaborative, NWSISD has worked with our member districts around the common goal of post-secondary preparedness and success. Each year, member district students from high schools and middle schools are provided the opportunity to research potential schools by participating in college visits. College visits offer the college bound student a first-hand look at colleges and universities throughout the state and nearby Midwest area.
By participating in these visits, students of all backgrounds will find the information they need in order to gain a better understanding of the services each college provides for the college bound student. No website, guidebook or testimonial will give students a better feel for the future than college and career visits.
In addition to college visits, students are given an opportunity to explore careers through partnerships with local businesses.
- Please pay attention to all visits as well as grade levels for participants. ALL visits are first come, first served.
- Your maximum number of student participants will vary based on the maximum number of students allowed on each college/career visit. Please limit your group to 15-20 if a visit calls for 50 or less participants. If additional spaces are available, more students will be allowed.
- Please generate your own permission slips according to your building guidelines.
- Groups signing up to attend visits must provide chaperones and organize transportation for their group. A ratio of one chaperone to every ten students is required.
- If more than one district attends a college visit, fees paid for transportation may be reimbursed by the Minnesota Department of Education. You will need to fill out the “Transportation to Inter-district Desegregation or Integration Schools or Programs” form to receive reimbursement.
- In order to register your students for any of the college/career visits, you will need to complete the ONLINE REGISTRATION. Spaces will not be guaranteed until this form is received and completed. Phone call or email RSVPs will not be accepted. Completed student lists (listing names, grades, and racial identification for your students) are due two weeks prior to the scheduled visit. Due to the number of cancellations in the past, we will be firm on the two week deadline. If completed lists are not received two weeks prior to a requested visit, spaces will be given to groups on the waiting list. Students registration information for Mankato visits are due one month in advance.
- Feel free to contact me via email or by phone at 763-450-1331 should you have questions.
College/Career visits paid for by district membership fees.
