UNHEARD 2026: "Soundbathing" Spatial Audio Performance by Emmett Palaima

Emmett Palaima, a New York-based sound artist, presents Soundbathing, an immersive spatial audio performance and installation at Eaton HK's rooftop pool. Using custom-built omnidirectional loudspeakers and a bespoke spatial audio instrument system, Palaima explores the physical interaction of waveforms in the air to create a deeply meditative sound experience. The live performance invites the audience to swim, relax, and transition from sunset into night immersed in spatial sound—an invitation to reconsider how sound inhabits space and how we inhabit sound.

Emmett will host a companion workshop at Eaton HK that will delve into the technical and conceptual design of the instrument, offering participants a rare glimpse into his process. Make sure to sign up by clicking here.

Palaima's practice is rooted in the belief that technology and magic are one, and that electricity is a manifestation of elemental forces underlying physical reality. His work has been exhibited internationally, including with Rhizome, at Currents New Media Festival, and Fusebox Festival. He has been an artist-in-residence at Pioneer Works and Harvestworks, and has contributed to projects for the Whitney Biennial and the Palm Springs Art Museum.
