Understanding the Bill C-92 Indigenous Prenatal Provision: Preventing Newborn Apprehensions Through Legal Advocacy and Prenatal Support
Join us on June 18, 2026, for a community legal education workshop. This session will provide legal information and practice strategies to help frontline professionals better support pregnant individuals to prevent apprehensions at birth. Co-facilitated by Dr. Hadley Friedland (LLB LLM) and Forensic Social Worker Rebecca Foshole-Luke (RSW).
Participants will deepen their understanding of:
- The prenatal provision within An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Children, Youth and Families (Bill C-92)
- Legal obligations related to prenatal intervention and advocacy
- Practice approaches that support early advocacy, culturally grounded care, and family preservation
This workshop is intended for frontline service providers, advocates, legal professionals, healthcare workers, social workers, and community members supporting Indigenous children and families.
