About this Event
Understanding Late Diagnosis in Autism & ADHD
Are you autistic, ADHD, or both, and only found out as an adult? Or do you suspect you might be neurodivergent but have never received a formal diagnosis?
Late identification of autism and ADHD is incredibly common, particularly among women and those who learned early on to mask their differences. The consequences, years of poor mental health, burnout, and not understanding yourself, can be profound.
This talk will cover why neurodivergence so often goes unrecognised and what masking costs us, how to pursue a diagnosis, the emotional impact of finally getting answers, rebuilding your identity and sense of self after diagnosis, and practical steps you can take right now with or without a formal diagnosis.
Dr. Chris Worfolk is a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society and Principal Psychologist at Leeds Autism Practice. He is himself late-diagnosed. The event will include a talk followed by a Q&A.
Whether you are freshly diagnosed, years into your journey, self-identifying, or just beginning to ask questions, this evening is for you. Professionals working with neurodivergent adults are also very welcome.
Under 18s are welcome but please be aware the content is aimed at adults and may contain strong language.
