Join us for the UK launch of the 2025 Global Report of the Lancet Countdown, held in collaboration with UCL Grand Challenges. This high-level event will bring together leading voices from the climate and health communities, alongside UK policymakers and advisors, to explore the latest science on climate change and health, and discuss how evidence can drive urgent action to protect health.
The 2025 Lancet Countdown Report marks the ninth annual assessment of the connections between health and climate change. Authored by 128 experts across UN agencies and academic institutions, it tracks 57 indicators, including 8 new or improved metrics including on heat mortality, wildfire smoke, infectious diseases, and adaptation.
The launch event will be followed by a drinks reception in the Williams Lounge, Wellcome Collection from 17:00 – 18:00.
About the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change
The Lancet Countdown: Tracking Progress on Health and Climate Change exists to monitor this transition from threat to opportunity. Established in partnership with Wellcome, and developed in close collaboration with WHO, we are a global collaboration of over 300 leading experts from academic institutions and UN agencies across the globe, bringing together climate scientists, engineers, energy specialists, economists, political scientists, public health professionals and doctors.
Each year our findings are published annually in medical journal The Lancet ahead of the UN climate change negotiations, as well as in regional reports for key world regions. Our data makes clear how climate change is affecting our health, the consequences of delayed action and the health benefits of a robust response.
