In this two-day wheel throwing course, students will create two bowls and two cups while developing confidence and control on the pottery wheel.
Day one focuses on wheel throwing techniques including centering clay, forming cylinders and bowl shapes, and learning how to control even wall thickness. Pieces will dry overnight with assisted fan drying.
Day two focuses on trimming and attaching handles to cups, allowing students to refine and complete their functional pottery pieces.
Students can take short breaks to rest and eat while rotating turns on the wheel.
This course is suitable for beginners as well as students with some previous wheel throwing experience wanting to strengthen foundational skills.
Costs include studio equipment clay, glazes, and kiln firings.
Please bring water, lunch, or a snack box.
Final works will be fired within 4–6 weeks after the course and can be collected from Kumeū Arts or Lalita’s Ceramic Studio
