Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whātua are hosting Governance Workshops for people who:
• Are registered uri of Ngāti Whātua (with a valid Uri Database ID) AND
• Are current marae or whānau whenua trustees OR are working towards becoming a marae or whānau whenua trustee in the Ngāti Whātua rohe.
The purpose of these workshops is to equip attendees with the basics of good governance and provide a range of resources they can access to develop further.
The content is a balance the duality of both taha Māori, Ngāti Whātuatanga and Western governance practice to ensure the right approach around roles and responsibilities.

These workshops will be facilitated by Susan Huria, ONZM (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāi Tuahuriri).
Susan has expertise in Māori governance within all legal structures, having facilitated workshops for dozens of iwi and Māori groups, and conferred a Master's in Māori and Indigenous Leadership, with her thesis focused on Māori governance. She is chair of Connexis Inc, the infrastructure sector training entity and a director of Trust Investments Management Ltd, an investment and property company.
She is also a director of Ospri, the farmer-owned animal disease management agency, and a director of Accessible Properties, the property arm of IHC, and is on the group-wide Audit, Investment and Risk Committee. She is a member of Hāto Petera Wāwāhi Ara, which is currently re-purposing the Māori catholic boys' boarding school in Northcote, Auckland. Susan is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
