Twilight Talks has two sessions. Please book for which you'd like to attend, or both! Included in the ticket price are light refreshments, which will be served from 6.45 pm.

Horry Parsons – More Stories from the Tower
Horry was Project Manager of building of the Millennium Tower. His talk will focus on the particular trades involved with the tower project, including glazing, plastering and flintknapping, as well as details of the Vaulted Ceiling.
If you're joining us for this talk, your ticket includes the chance to climb the tower. We are limited to 10 per climb, so if you'd like to join, please book your ticket for this event using the timed climb tickets available at 6.00 pm, 6.30 pm, 8.00 pm and 8.30 pm. This will book you for a tower climb AND talk. If you prefer not to climb the tower, please choose the 'general admission' ticket option.


Please be aware, the tower climb is a total of 202 steps and includes one accent via a ladder.

Access will not be permitted to:

  • Any children under the age of 10 (children aged 10-17 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.)
  • Adults aged 80+ (stipulated by our insurers)
  • Anyone believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Those who are nervous of heights and suffer from vertigo and/or claustrophobia. The tour includes spiral staircases and narrow passageways.
  • Those who are pregnant, suffer from heart disorders, or any medical condition or disability which might affect their own safety or the safety of others.

Reverend Pippa Blackall – How to Make a Stained-glass Window
Pippa is the artist that made the Birt Memorial window in the Cathedral. Her career in stained glass has now spanned more than 40 years and began with being trained by Francis Spear, one of the leading stained glass Artist-Craftsman of the 20th century.
Pippa was tutor and artist in residence at the Stained Glass Museum, Ely. Her recent commissions include an east window for SS Peter and Paul Alpheton, Suffolk, an east window for St John the Baptist parish church, Mileham, Norfolk and chapel windows for Treloar College in Hampshire. In 2024 Pippa was ordained as a priest in the Church of England.
This talk includes a post-talk tour of the Cathedral's stained-glass windows.
