About this Event
Come and help us celebrate Bury St Edmunds Model Railway Clubs 75th Anniversary, with East Anglia’s biggest ever model railway exhibition in the unique setting of Bury St Edmunds Cathedral.
The exhibition is on Saturday 28th September and runs from 10am-4pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the door. Adult tickets are £10 and accompanied children under 14 are free.
With thanks to the Dean and Chapter, we are taking over the whole Cathedral nave and cloister creating the largest exhibition space in the area. So far, we have booked 18 layouts including Purgatory peak an amazing USA logging layout in ON 30 scale, Beijaio Central, an unusual HO layout of industrial China and our own Cobbold’s Wharf, an S7 scale model of Ipswich Docks. 10 traders have been booked to attend including Coastal DCC, Orwell Model Rail and Great Eastern Models, and there will be demonstrations of airbrush weathering by Gary from Model Behaviour and laser cut model kit building by Intentio. A full list of models and traders is below, though this will be subject to change.
In addition, there will be a children’s interactive corner where the young can play with and run 3 different layouts in different scales and an opportunity to help the cathedral by buying bricks to add to the massive Lego model of the Cathedral.
Set in the heart of Bury St Edmunds on Angel Hill the cathedral is easy to find. Car Parking is available in any of the town’s municipal car parks, the closest being on Angel Hill itself (close but pricy and fills up early) or in Ram Meadow (lots of spaces, all day for £3).
