Truth Under Fire: A Conversation with Hind Khoudary

Join Hind Khoudary in conversation with Séamus Malekafzali and Ahmed Zidan for an urgent conversation on journalism under siege and the extraordinary sacrifices made by Gazan reporters to document the truth.

As Israel’s genocide in Gaza transitions to a slower phase, hundreds of journalists have been martyred, maimed and targtedd—simply for bearing witness. Khoudary will share her firsthand testimony from Gaza, speaking candidly about survival, responsibility, and the costs of telling the truth.

The event will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person and will conclude with an audience Q&A.

Hind Khoudary is a Palestinian journalist, frontline reporter and genocide survivor based out of the Gaza Strip. She has breporting bravely from the heart of the conflict despite facing significant personal risks, including threats and interrogations. Her work has garnered international recognition and has made her one of the most prominent journalists reporting from Gaza.

Séamus Malekafzali is an independent journalist and writer focusing on critical analysis of Middle Eastern affairs based in New York, and was previously based in Paris and Beirut. He writes primarily on his Substack to maintain his editorial independance and has previously contributed to Protean Magazine, The Nation and The Intercept.

Ahmed Zidan is the deputy director of audience at Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF), where he oversees the organization's audience strategy, social media, multimedia, and newsletters. Prior to FPF, he was deputy director of digital and social media at the Committee to Protect Journalists, and social media editor of Radio Netherlands Worldwide.
