About this Event
In the week that Trump is inaugurated, we’ll hear perspectives on what powered him to victory and explore the politics of polarisation. We’ll consider what is relevant to us here, what we can learn from the defeat of the Democrats and how we can prevent polarisation in our communities.
Speakers:
Paul Taggart, Professor of Politics, University of Sussex
Cathy Shutt, researcher in politics and community engagement
plus others tbc
All welcome.
This is the first in the People's Politics series of events from the Kemptown and Peacehaven Consituency Labour Party . Each event will be a chance for us to consider global, national and local trends and events and how they shape our city, our communities and our lives.
Each event will feature short contributions from different perspectives, whether politicians, activists, community members or academics – with Q&A, and a chance for discussion. We will consider what we might do in response – whether as individuals or together - to create a positive, healthy, equitable, sustainable future.
We’ve set some up some sessions but will invite ideas for future sessions based on what you want to discuss, to explore the issues that matter to you, from education to the housing crisis.
