Speaker : Jim Brydie will present "Weird Things
Orchids do to Survive"
Jim is our member and well know orchid enthusiast. His talk is an introduction to the amazing breadth of variation within the orchids and looks at some of the strange mechanisms they have adopted in cases to force their niche in the world. It talks about things like hairs, scents, visual imitation to mimic insects, insect traps and mechanisms to bar all except the right insect. It stretches right across the orchid family looking at more unusual species. Hopefully with a little laugh along the way.
The photo shows a Restrepia orchid in Jim's Collection.
