TRIPOLAR THE MOVIE | Film Screening @ Angelika Pop-Up DC
About this Event
TRIPOLAR THE MOVIE | Angelika Pop-Up DC
For one night only, come see TRIPOLAR THE MOVIE, a fearless social satire disguised as a stoner comedy, delivering biting critiques around issues of race, gender, politics, and climate change. A washed-up 50-something mother and her daughter’s friends are willing to do anything to get the money to make a movie — and everything goes off the rails. The ensuing madness parodies life in modern America. Written and directed by veteran iconoclastic filmmaker Eleanor Gaver (Life in the Fast Lane, Here One Minute).
Winner of the Best Narrative Feature award at the Chicago Underground Film Festival with multiple sold-out screenings at BAFICI in Buenos Aires, where programmer Agustín Maseado called TRIPOLAR “…the best film at BAFICI, possibly of the year."
Producer/editor and Bethesda-native Russell Yaffe will be in attendance to introduce the film and participate in a Q&A following the film, hosted by award-winning local filmmaker Skizz Cyzyk (Sound Mechanic, Icepick to the Moon).
“Utterly hilarious, irreverent in 100 ways, and ultimately about nothing less than the human struggle against darkness and chaos, TRIPOLAR THE MOVIE is an amazing journey.” - Jonathan Safran Foer (yes, the author of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Everything is Illuminated really loves TRIPOLAR!)
