Tree Canada and LEAF are excited to plant trees in honour of National Tree Day. Come celebrate with us!
About this Event

Tree Canada, in collaboration with LEAF and the City of Richmond Hill, is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. National Tree Day connects local action to national impact—when Canadians participate across the country, we grow a movement that reflects who we are and the future we want to build. Join us to plant 500 trees and shrubs in Meander Park. Tree Canada experts and experienced volunteers will be on hand to support you and answer your questions. We’ll provide gloves and shovels—all you need to bring is your enthusiasm!

How you'll be making an impact

A healthy urban forest is essential to building sustainable, resilient communities. In partnership with the City of Richmond Hill and Tree Canada, LEAF is continuing its restoration efforts at Meander Park through a community naturalization planting event.

Since 2019, LEAF and the City have worked together to restore this site, with a total of 1,500 native trees and shrubs planned for planting in 2026 to increase biodiversity, improve stormwater management, reduce erosion, and enhance wildlife habitat within the Humber River watershed. During this event, community volunteers will help plant and mulch 500 native trees and shrubs, making a direct contribution to the park's ongoing restoration.

LEAF staff and trained volunteers will guide participants through proper planting and mulching techniques, creating an engaging, hands-on experience while helping restore a healthier, more resilient natural environment for the community.
