Trans* Swim

The Norfolk LGBTQ+ Project is excited for you to join us at our Trans* Swim event at Riverside Leisure Centre- Norwich! This health and wellbeing event is open to trans, non-binary and gender questioning adults- 18+. Come get active, swim, and connect with others in a safe and inclusive environment. Whether you're a seasoned swimmer or just looking to dip your toes in the water, all skill levels are welcome. So grab your swimsuit and towel, and dive in with us at Trans* Swim!

Attendees will have private use of the pool at the leisure centre for the duration of the event- 6:00-7:00 swimming, with 30 minutes after for getting changed. This means the only people present at the pool, other than lifeguards, will be those attending the event. You can arrive as early as 5:45 to get changed, but be aware that there is another swim event that ends at 6:00, so there will still be members of the public using the changing rooms at that time.

Along with the pool, attendees will have access to the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna during the event.

Lastly, it may be important for you to know that there are windows that overlook the pool from the lobby and the gym on the upper floor. These spaces will be open to members of the public for the duration of our event.

Parking: The centre has 100 parking bays and 6 disabled parking bays. They offer 2.5 hours of free car parking, if you wish to extend this for your visit, please let the reception team know on your arrival.

Accessibility: The main enterance has a ramp. There is a Pool Pod entry to the water if required and accessible changing facilities- see below for details.

Changing Rooms: There are several gender neutral individual/family changing cubicles in the changing village. These are not accessible. There are 3 gender neutral accessible changing rooms in the changing village (1 group and 2 individual).

Toilets and Showers: There are male and female toilets (individual cubicles), but for the duration of our event these are gender neutral and you can use the space that you feel most comfortable in. There are 2 accessible, gender neutral toilets. There are 5 gender neutral, communal showers (no cubical or curtain) poolside. There are 2 gender neutral private showers. These are not accessible. There are accessible showers in the 3 gender neutral accessible changing rooms.

Swimwear: You are welcome to wear what makes you feel most comfortable, as long as your bottom half is covered. Please ensure that your clothing is safe to swim in- not too baggy or heavy when it is wet.
