THU PM - Portrait Drawing: Level 2 with Bret

Learn to capture the human face using fundamental techniques and concepts using graphite and charcoal.
We'll cover everything from basic structure and proportions to features and expressions. Whether you're a beginner or looking to hone your skills, this class will provide you with the tools and guidance to enhance your portrait drawing abilities.
In this class, you will learn:

• How to break down the human head by using simple proportions and structure
• Develop better observational skills in order capture the likeness of the subject
• Various techniques such as shading, highlighting, and texturing to add depth and realism.
• How to accurately draw individual facial features and their relationship to one another.

Students will walk away with a finished drawing and a better understanding of how to render faces.

Supply List for Students to Bring:

This is a studio class and students will be using their supplies on the first week.​

• Drawing paper pad (no smaller than 11x14 inches)
• Erasers (kneaded & white vinyl)
• Blenders and stumps
• Graphite pencils (hard & soft)
• Charcoal pencils (hard & soft)
• Ruler
