Concert at Troldhaugen
18 August – 23 August
Tuesday to Sunday every day
10:15, 12:00 and 14:00
Enjoy an intimate and vivid performance by young award winning pianists: Edvard Grieg’s music takes on an entirely new depth when you experience it in the very place where it was composed. A concert at his home Troldhaugen makes it even clearer why this setting still feels like a key to understanding – and coming closer to – his music.
Sebastian Egebakken Svenøy began playing the piano at the age of nine and recently completed his studies in Copenhagen under Professor Jens Elvekjær.
He has received several prizes in both national and international competitions. In 2024, he won the Norwegian Soloist Prize (Den norske solistpris) and NRK’s soloist competition Virtuos, and represented Norway at the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in Bodø.
Egebakken Svenøy has previously performed on stages and at festivals such as the Bergen International Festival, Oslo Concert Hall, and the Aulaserien, where he and violinist Alma Kraggerud inaugurated the new Debut Series with three duo recitals.
In 2026, he has performed Mozart’s Double Concerto with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK) and pianist Mikkel Berg-Eriksen. He has also appeared at festivals such as the Arctic Chamber Music Festival on Svalbard, the Bergen International Festival, and the Risør Chamber Music Festival, and is scheduled to perform at the Baltic Sea Festival in Stockholm in August.
