We usually believe what we can see. Join us on Tuesday, September 29 for the preview of The Way Maker’s Work, a documentary portrait of Elegba Folklore Society, and its founder and president, Omilade Janine Bell directed and edited by Sionne Neely and the screening of The Remarkable Story of James Apostle Fields by Morgan Avery McCoy.
The documentary featuring interviews with Hampton University’s first student, followed by a talk back.
Meet these two phenomenal African American woman storytellers through film and see for yourself why their work is so admired.
The Screening will be at the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU. The event is free and open to the public, however, you will need to register though our Eventbrite. The screening is from 6pm to 8 pm, however at 5pm and be treated to ICA Galleries exhibitions on Views, Tony Cokes: Texts, Tracks, Talks (1882-2026, Cassidy Namoda: Life is the Seamstress of Dreams, and Diane Severin Nguyen: WAR SONGS duet.
Participating is free of charge with refreshments provided.
