About this Event
This is an in person event, hosted by the main West Midlands CIBSE Regional Committee at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium.
Synopsis :
The UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard (UKNZCBS) is a unique initiative launched in 2022 where nine key UK built environment organisations, including CIBSE, are collaborating to develop the UK’s first net zero carbon standard for buildings. It is supported by hundreds of volunteers to provide specialist and sector-specific expertise, and informed by a large and wide-reaching stakeholder engagement exercise.
The UKNZCBS will define what “Net Zero” means for buildings, for them to play their part in a Net Zero UK by 2050. It covers new and existing buildings, and embodied as well as operational carbon.
Julie Godefroy will deliver an update as to the changes from the original consultation document to the final version which is due for imment release.
Key learning points to take away:
The presentation will include an overview of the UKNZCBS, including:
- Objectives and guiding principles.
- Development process and organisational structure.
- Principles for the technical requirements, which are based both on a “top down” approach i.e. what is required to meet UK energy and carbon budgets, and on a “bottom up” approach, i.e. what is technically achievable.
- Verification and evidence principles.
Speaker: Julie Godefroy.
