BIOGRAPHY

The Sylva Quartet was formed in September 2024 at the Royal College of Music London and is made up of dedicated and passionate chamber musicians – violinists Gabriela Balcerek and Marélie Chomarat, violist Vera Edgington, and cellist Lucy Hepburn. Coming from diverse international backgrounds, they bring a wide range of musical experiences and perspectives to the ensemble.

Throughout their time together, they have been fortunate to receive coaching from members of renowned quartets such as the Brodsky Quartet, Castalian Quartet, and the Piatti quartet, as well as guidance from various other distinguished teachers, such as Yuri Zhislin, Amanda Truelove, and Gemma Rosefield.

In April 2025, they were invited to take part in a chamber music festival in Conzano, Italy, where they were invited to perform. The quartet also frequently perform at st Mary Abbotts church and other venues around London including the speakers house in Parliament. They have recently been working with composer Mike Bryant to record his latest work at lightship studios.
