About this Event
'Time to Draw' is a weekly drawing session in the Blackhorse Workshop Cafe, where I set out a range of art materials and we sit and draw and chat together around the table, with an improvised lesson plan devised by all of us at the start. We've never drawn the same thing twice!
This is a very playful, pleasurable class, designed to be accessible to anyone at any age or level. Each week it teaches me something new about how and why we draw.
Each exercise comes from suggestions in the group. There is no right or wrong way to do any of them, and everyone's efforts are equally wonderful. By the end of each session we will have each filled up a little handmade sketchbook for you to take away.
As a father of a child with Down's Syndrome I'm also very open to SEN kids and adults coming along to what will be a welcoming, non-judgemental space for all.
** NOTE: If you are bringing children this is not a drop-off session! **
If you want to participate alongside them, then please buy a ticket too. Or just hang out at another table and grab a nice coffee and snack in the cafe whilst I work with the group.
These weekly sessions are run by Barry's Anywhere Art School, who put on creative workshops for a wide variety of groups, in hospitals, schools, museums, colleges and cafes. Each session responds directly to the potentials of the space and the needs of the group.
