Grab your friends and your imagination for the Southern 48—a thrilling, fast‑paced film challenge hosted by Southern City in the CSRA! Over one weekend, teams (even if you’re flying solo—we’ll help you join one) will write, shoot, cast, and edit a complete short film in just 48 hours. You’ll receive a surprise genre, a required prop, and a specific line of dialogue to weave into your creation.
$1,000 cash prizes await the best films, along with awards for talents like directing, acting, editing, and more. And everyone’s welcome, whether you’re a seasoned pro or making your first movie!
Competition Weekend Schedule:
Friday: Kickoff Event at Indie Grip
5:00pm - Networking Hour
5:45pm - Rules and Assignments
6:15pm - KICKOFF!
Saturday: KEEP WORKING HARD!
Sunday: Submission Mixer and Screening
5:30pm - Wrap Party Begins
6:15pm - Submission Deadline
6:45pm - Screening Begins
After screenings conclude the judges will deliberate and score the films
