Cotton and textiles have been a famous part of Lancashire's industrial history for centuries but what about Lancaster's role in the Georgian silk industry?In the 1700s Lancaster's Galgate Silk Mill became one of the first of its kind in the country.
This fascinating talk will reveal more about the people and places of the city's silk industry, from the Georgian and Victorian periods, all the way until it became the last silk mill in Britain when it closed in the 1970s.
Join us to find out more as researcher Zoë Lawson shares the story of silk in Lancaster and the Lune Valley.
