Join us for an immersive exploration of the magic, history, and spiritual power of St. John’s Eve, the most iconic ritual night in New Orleans Voodoo. We will delve into the legacy of Marie Laveau, whose solstice rites along Bayou St. John shaped both the city’s spiritual landscape and the modern understanding of Louisiana Voodoo. Through historical and contemporary imagery from New Orleans from travels to New Orleans, you’ll gain a vivid sense of the sacred sites and waters that continue to anchor this tradition.
We’ll examine the structure and symbolism of Laveau’s St. John’s Eve ceremony, including the meaning of her sacred vevé and the role of purification. Participants will take part in a small, authentic cleansing rite designed to attune the spirit to renewal and clarity.
A major focus of the class is the serpentine current that flows through St. John’s Eve. We will explore the mysteries of Damballa Wedo and Blanc Dani, serpent forces tied to purity, wisdom, and cosmic order, and discuss how their energies move through the cross-quarters of the year to guide cycles of transformation.
This class is ideal for anyone drawn to New Orleans magic, the heritage of Laveau Voodoo, or the deeper rhythms of the Lwa (Spirits).
Participants are encouraged to wear all white in honor of purification and reverence for the spirits of this sacred night.
Just a reminder: Please reserve your seats for the Monthly Thoth Circle classes. Since gatherings are currently held at a private residence in Providence, RI, and space is limited.
To reserve your spot or request more information, please email [email protected].
As we continue to develop our thoughts and plans to welcoming you to our future brick-and-mortar location, complete with an esoteric library, please stay current with our facebook updates. More details will be shared as our plans continue to develop.
