About this Event
Join us at Providence Preservation Society on Friday, June 26 for an end-of-week evening panel conversation about integrating preservation and modernization in your historic home or building. Panelists will cover topics such as how to and renovate while retaining historic character, how to navigate challenges associated with retrofitting older building for a more sustainable future, and -- this one is important -- how Providence's Historic District Commission regulates changes to historic buildings that are located in one of the city's historic districts. (if you don't know if your building is in a national or a local historic district, PPS's interactive map will tell you -- just put your street address into the search box at the bottom right of the map next to the magnifying class icon!). Speakers include Jason Martin, Kurt Teichert, and Paul Vespia.
Tickets: $15 General Public / $10 PPS Members. Not (yet) a member of PPS? First-time memberships start at $35 and renewing individual memberships are $50 and households are $75 -- learn more here!
Note: the program will be held in PPS's second-floor community room, which is served by stairs (available from the Meeting Street side of the building) and an elevator (served by the South Court Street side of the building). PPS can make several parking spots available for visitors with accessibility needs on a first-come basis -- to reserve one, please write to us at [email protected]. On a weekday evening, visitors will find street parking on Benefit Street, North Main Street, and surrounding streets, but please keep in mind that this is a hilly neighborhood so some walking may be required to get to PPS after parking.
