Event Description:

RACE TALKS presents a curated community transit experience that explores the juxtaposition of American independence with the "price of the ticket" paid by Black Portlanders. This tour serves as a mobile archival intervention, documenting the erasure of the Albina district while honoring the resilience of those who remain. The tour is anchored by the primary narration of Donna Maxey, whose lived experience of losing her family home and business to the construction of I-5 and Legacy Emanuel Hospital, provides the moral and historical authority for this project. This is a first-person testimony of the systematic displacement that defined N/NE Portland.
