The Mindful Body
About this Event
Movement, Mindfulness, and Tools for Everyday Life
Life can be stressful, overwhelming, and sometimes simply exhausting. This class offers a welcoming space to slow down, reconnect, and learn practical tools for navigating life’s challenges.
- Thursdays, July 23 – August 27
- 10am – 11am
- Sabathani Community Center – Dance Studio
(Lower level, Room 33)
Open to ages 18 and up
This class combines:
- Sitting Meditation: Rest in stillness, noticing the breath, thoughts, and sensations as they come and go.
- Laying-Down Body Scan: A guided relaxation that moves attention through the body to release tension and invite deep rest.
- Walking Meditation: Mindful movement, where each step becomes an opportunity to connect with the present moment.
Each session includes mindful movement, breathing practices, guided relaxation, and conversation around topics that affect our daily lives, such as stress, anxiety, resilience, boundaries, self-care, and finding healthy balance.
Participants are encouraged to practice non-attachment and presence, with optional time at the end of each session to reflect, integrate, or discuss how the practice can support daily life.
Together, we’ll explore how stress affects the nervous system and practice simple techniques that can help us feel more grounded, present, and supported.
No experience is necessary. All bodies, backgrounds, and life experiences are welcome.
