Benjamin Franklin is often celebrated as America's Leonardo da Vinci. A polymath with an insatiable curiosity and mastery of many fields and professions, Franklin was the embodiment of the Enlightenment. But he was so much more: The famous scientist and inventor made numerous vital contributions to the founding of the nation, both in Philadelphia and as a diplomat in Europe. Master storyteller Robert Watson examines Franklin’s early struggles, complicated and fascinating character, his efforts on behalf of the Declaration and Constitution, and his formidable and timeless legacy.

Watson is distinguished professor of American history at Lynn University and the author of Declaration: The Story of American Independence.
