Montreal, QC - MacLeod 9 Productions is happy to announce the release of a graphic novel version of the film, The Indigo Iona Saga and the Settlement of Iceland Episode 1. from their Norse Women’s Saga series https://macleod9.com/norsewomenssaga/. In production since 2023 it was released in 2026.
Synopsis: It is a story of emigration, slavery, freedom, women and their settlement of Iceland. The ambitious Viking Queen Hertha Ljótólfsdóttir leaves Norway with her fleet to the Norse colonies of Shetland and Orkney Islands to take Celtic slaves in order to help claim and settle land in Iceland away from the battling Norwegian Kings. On Queen Hertha’s journey she confronts the warlord Ketill, King of the Isles, and discovers his beautiful slave girl, Iona. Both will influence the outcome of Hertha’s settlement plans in Iceland. Inspired by the real-life archaeological exhumation of a 9th-century Scottish woman's remains in Iceland in 2014, this multimedia project brings to light the dramatic untold story of the settlement of Iceland and the critical historic role played by women in the development of this new nation.
