About This Event
Our kids absorb far more than we realize. The stress, hyper-vigilance, and quiet weight that come with military and first responder service don't stop at the front door—they ripple into our homes and directly shape how our children experience the world.
While our default mode is often set to protect, true safety at home comes through connection.
Protection vs. Connection is a supportive, real-talk session dedicated to understanding the true impact our service has on our children—and how we can bridge the gap. Combining lived experience from the field with clinical science, we’ll explore what our kids need when the noise of the job follows us home and share practical, everyday tools to help them feel safe, grounded, and emotionally supported.
Whether you're currently raising young kids or guiding teenagers, pull up a chair and join the conversation.
What We’ll Focus On
- The Science & Household Impact: How operational fatigue, trauma, and high-stress environments affect our children’s nervous systems, behavior, and emotional development.
- Shifting the Dynamic: Moving from tactical protection and hyper-vigilance to open, meaningful connection at home.
- Practical Tools for the Family: Simple grounding, breathing, and emotional regulation techniques you can teach your kids to help them process anxiety and stress.
- Shared Wisdom: A welcoming, judgment-free space to connect with other parents who walk the same path, share lived experiences, and build community strength.
