About this Event

Step into the shadow of the Gravewood forest for an unforgettable night with Kelly Andrew as we celebrate the release of In conversation with fellow romance author Jenny Howe, Kelly will dive into the making of this darkly romantic, spine-tingling tale filled with rival vampire gangs, and a haunted forest. Meet Shea Parker, a fiercely determined heroine who strikes a dangerous bargain with the brooding and volatile Oliver Lysander—trading her blood for the hearing aid batteries she needs to survive in a dystopian world where silence is always looming. When her best friend vanishes into the treacherous Gravewood and her brother returns home desperate for answers, loyalties fracture, obsessions ignite, and the lines between monster and savior blur. Hear Kelly discuss the novel’s exploration of disability, devotion, and the twisted limits of loyalty during an in-depth author talk, stay for an audience Q&A, and don’t miss your chance to get your book signed and meet Kelly during a special meet-and-greet.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kelly Andrew lost her hearing when she was four years old. She's been telling stories ever since. She’s the New York Times bestselling author of Your Blood, My Bones, as well as I Am Made of Death and The Whispering Dark. Kelly lives in New England with her husband, two daughters, and a persnickety Boston Terrier.

ABOUT THE GRAVEWOOD

From New York Times bestselling author Kelly Andrew comes the first in a darkly romantic duology that explores disability, obsession, and the twisted limits of loyalty.

Shea Parker has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Gravewood, an impassable forest that's cut off her town from the rest of the world. With resources limited and supplies scarce, Shea is forced to carefully ration her hearing aid batteries. When her stash runs out, she'll be left in the silence.

Desperate, Shea turns to the only person who can help -- Oliver Lysander, the volatile leader of a vampiric gang that rules the Gravewood.

The arrangement between Shea and Lysander starts off simply enough. She gives him her blood. He tracks down batteries. They don't cross any lines. They don't make it personal. But when Shea's best friend is lured into the Gravewood, her disappearance brings her older brother home from the frontlines. Asher Thorley is willing to do whatever it takes to find his sister, even if it means holding Shea's ugliest secrets over her head.

Ever an opportunist, Lysander renegotiates the terms of their deal. If Asher takes out Lysander's vampire rival, Lysander will help him find his sister. And if Shea agrees to Turn, Lysander will give her a cure for her ailing mother. For the first time ever, Shea finds herself leaving home. Swallowed up in the dreamlike dark of the Gravewood and traveling in the company of killers, it isn't long before she risks becoming one herself.

ABOUT THE CONVERSATION PARTNER

Jenny L. Howe first started scribbling stories into black-and-white composition notebooks with neon pink pens when she was in junior high and never really stopped. In college, she decided to turn her love of books into a career by pursuing a Ph.D. in literature, where she spent the next few years studying bizarre and entertaining medieval romances. Now, as a professor, she teaches courses in college writing, literature, and children’s media. When she’s not writing and teaching, Jenny spends her time buried under puzzle pieces, cross-stitching her favorite characters, and taking too many pictures of her rescue dogs, Tucker, Dale, and Toast. She is the author of The Make-Up Test and On the Plus Side.
